Description & Qualifications

Description

About the Team:

As a Product Manager, you will be part of a high-performing agile team that works on U.S. and Canadian tax compliance and reporting. This includes complex Canada tax calculations, the generation of tax-related forms and electronic files to report wages and taxes for employees and employers, and standard reports for payroll reconciliation.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst who enjoys (1) researching, analyzing, and writing software requirements as agile user stories, (2) working as the Product Owner on a Scrum team, and (3) learning something new every day to become a subject-matter expert. Our team builds payroll software with a focus on tax compliance, so any experience with payroll or U.S or Canadian taxes and tax filing or year-end reporting is a plus. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, a strong problem-solver, an enthusiastic collaborator, and a straightforward communicator.

  • Research and quickly understand customer needs, regulatory requirements, technical functionality, and payroll calculations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders in Support and Services and with developers and QA engineers to design software features and enhancements.
  • Write clear and actionable requirements (user stories, use case scenarios, and acceptance criteria) to help focus the team on solving the right problems.
  • Facilitate meetings that help the team understand the customer, the problem we are trying to solve, and the success criteria for the solution.
  • Think imaginatively and intuitively while quickly grasping and synthesizing new information and reacting to rapidly changing situations.
  • Ensure that projects remain on-track and in-scope, communicate project status, and escalate potential problems proactively and professionally.
  • Work closely with Delivery Assurance to ensure that your features are ready for release, including the proper planning and coordination with the Learning and Marketing teams.
  • Help establish and improve processes and standards for how we work.
  • Become a subject-matter expert in your area so you can become a source of knowledge for others internally and externally. Continuous learning is the norm.
  • Be obsessed with delivering value to customers.

Qualifications

About You:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Product Manager in an agile software development environment is highly desired.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a business or technology-related field, preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills to research and understand complex business problems and write detailed level requirements and acceptance criteria.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Payroll and/or tax experience
  • Detail-oriented with high organizational skills to work independently or within a team to balance multiple priorities and overlapping tasks.
  • Equal proficiency in presenting ideas and details clearly through verbal presentations and technical documentation.
  • SQL knowledge
  • Training experience is a plus.
  • Please be prepared to share and explain sample requirements that you have written.
